StargateSTORY / GAMEPLAY
A team of scientists discovers a strange alien portal (an enormous gate) called StarGate. US Army Colonel Jonathan O' Neil assembles a Task Force team to enter the strange gate and find out where it leads to. All commandos ultimately end up trapped into an unknown planet called Abydos, inhabited by humans that look as if they still live in the prehistoric ages! Planet Abydos is a hostile place that's now ruled by a powerful alien being known as "Ra". He and his alien warriors, forced the Abydians to worship them as gods as they have enhanced powers and weapons, unknown to the humans that almost live in caves. Colonel O'Neil is now called to fight his way through deserts, caves, buildings, small villages and other dangerous areas around Abydos carrying a machine gun and some grenades to defend himself and kill every non-human creature on sight. He must also watch for traps scattered around the areas and collect ammo crates, extra grenades and some relics Spader needs.
StarGate plays and feels like many other action platform games where you walk, jump, climb and shoot, so it's a quite easy adventure to master except of some almost frustrating cases when you wander around the same areas, over and over again, looking for items to gather and open the gates to go further. But in general, StarGate is a very decent game in both Mega Drive and SNES consoles.

GRAPHICS / SOUND
The visuals on the SNES are great, with numerous simultaneous colors on-screen, beautiful backgrounds and Ancient Egypt details. The music score of this game is a well tuned track that adds a lot to the, already eerie, atmosphere of Abydos and the sound effects include all classic action explosions, gunfire and more.
